They are the Bees Knees!
That's a story for another day, but let's just say that bees don't like it when you place them on your knee.
I have always been a planner, and to be honest with you, beekeeping was something that I was going to do as a hobby when I retired. That being said, I figured, "why wait?", so here I am!
Bees are the coolest insects, and they teach a lot of powerful life lessons with their determination to work hard, take care of the hive and explore different areas. They are something I aspire to 'bee' in everyday of my life. Okay, okay, enough sappy talk!
But seriously, I love spending time with the bees, and I have met so many amazing people on my journey to having bees of my own. I am a big 'bee'liever in learning by doing, so for about 3 years before having my own bees I spent time with beekeepers of all different shapes and sizes. I wanted to make sure I could provide the bees with a good life, and know when they needed something from me!
If you have never been up close and personal with a beehive, think of sitting around a fire pit on a summer night as it starts to get dark. They are just mesmerizing as they fly around you to get to where they need to go. The noise, the smell of the hive, and the way they work together to get things done!
